Stella Cherry

We now have Stella cherry trees.  These cherries are fruiting cherries that only require 700 chill hours.  (See chill hour discussion section)  Stella is dark red black when ripe.  It is a sweet cherry that ripens in mid-season.    Stella is self fertile so only one tree will be required.  It will also pollinate other varieties of cherries.  As of early 2009, we have only heard of one cherry that has borne fruit in our area.  We will plant a couple of trees to test them.  We do not expect to have any more news available about the Stella cherry until around late 2011, when ours will be in their third season.
